1.4 Description of Data Interface
Table 1-2 provides a list of the data interface available. Each data interface is a plug-in
module that provides a specific terrestrial connection to the demodulator unit. Where
practical, both the TX (modulator) and RX (demodulator) paths are incorporated into the
data interface. Refer to the applicable chapter for description of the interface module.

The 70/140 MHz IF interface is a plug-in card designed to replace the current L-Band
demodulator RF. It will be plug compatible both physically and electrically with the
current L-Band demodulator. The demodulator board is designed to require minimal
changes to the current SDM-2020 firmware and mechanical assemblies.
1.4.1 Interface/M&C Software Requirements
Note: This section does not apply to SDM-2020 Demodulator incorporating PCB,
AS/7733.
As additional data interfaces are introduced, the software is revised to support the
operation of each interface. Table 1-3 summarizes the minimum software version
necessary to operate each interface type.
